Macropinna microstoma Chapman, 1939.

Barreleye. To 16 cm (6.3 in) TL (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). Western North Pacific off northern Japan and Kuril Islands to Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska to eastern South Pacific west of Islas Juan Fernández, Chile (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). Primarily mesopelagic; depth: 16–2,150 m (53–7,052 ft) (min.: Mecklenburg et al. 2002; max.: Gavin Hanke, pers. comm. to M.L.).
