Blackstripe Herring. To 13 cm (5.1 in) (Robertson and Allen 2008). Bahía Magdalena, southern California and Gulf of California to northern Peru (Castro-Aguirre et al. 2002). Lagoons and other shallow littoral waters (Castro-Aguirre et al. 2002).
