Sound in Modern Screen Discourse

Description

The purpose of the study is to identify the means and methods of introducing new technologies to provide the screen arts with sound and sound effects. The methodology of the study implies the use of a general scientific approach; comparative and historical methods are also applied. The novelty of the study is that: a) the historical aspects of the formation and development of sound systems in cinema are analyzed, b) the peculiarities of the creative approach of cinema sound directors to sound recording are analyzed. Conclusions. The study found that in order to form an effective and purposeful impact on the perception of the film viewer, the sound engineer must not only have a sophisticated hearing and developed artistic taste, but also profoundly possess the technological aspects of creating new sounds (sound effects), as well as ways to combine them realistic sounds – language, music, noise. It is shown that with the introduction of multichannel recording / reproduction of sound into the practice of film production, it became possible not only the localization of sound in the screen space, but also the movement of sound near the viewer.
