This is a package of source code that supports Smith, George and Gregory, "FAMOUS version xotzt (FAMOUS-ice): a general circulation model (GCM) capable of energy- and water-conserving coupling to an ice sheet model", Geoscientific Model Development 14, 5769–5787, 2021. https://doi.org/10.5194/gmd-14-5769-2021

It contains modification patches ("mods") for the source code of vn4.5 of the Portable Unified Model (PUM) to run it as the FAMOUS-A configuration coupled to an ice sheet model, as well as a fork of version 1.9 of Glimmer-CISM it can couple with. The underlying source code for version 4.5 of the Portable UM (PUM) on which FAMOUS is built can be viewed at http://cms.ncas.ac.uk/code_browsers/UM4.5/UMbrowser

FAMOUS is a configuration of the Met Office Unified Model, whose code is owned by the Met Office and protected under UK Crown Copyright. Glimmer-CISM code is owned jointly by the Universities of Bristol, Edinburgh, Swansea, and Montana along with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and it is copyrighted under the GNU Lesser General Public License.
