SIMUL codes for local earthquake tomography

  • 1. University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • 2. GNS Science

Description

Here are three versions of the SIMUL family of codes with supporting files and some older documentation. I have used the Mac version on OS versions up through Catalina, with a reported compilation problem on Big Sur. This version also is reported to work under LINUX, but I have not tried it. An old UNIX version is also provided which may run well under some platforms. Finally, I was provided with a Windows version of the older code simulps14, but I am not able to take responsibility for whether or not it works for you Windows users. My thanks to a number of others who have contributed to the evolution of these codes.

Two old users manuals are  provided here (included in some tar files too), but parts are outdated. The Evans et al. report provides the most detailed information, but careful study of the input files for the version you choose to use will be needed to know how the newer version differs from simulps12.

23 February 2024: Please use the updated version simul2023 at zenodo.org/records/10695070.

Good luck with your research.
