Bidirectional Three Level Power Converter Analysis Based on Different Control Techniques

  • 1. Electrical Engineering Dept., Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India

Description

The ever-increasing demand for electricity necessitates the development of higher-voltage, higher-power electrical conversion technologies. Power generation by renewable energy sources is increasing. Power electronic converters play an important role in the field of power generation, transmission and distribution. In the current scenario transportation is done with the help of electric vehicles, to overcome the pollution and high prices of fuel. In this paper bidirectional three level stacked neutral point clamped converter is modeled using MATLAB. Bidirectional converter works as a inverter and as a rectifier. Battery charging application is implemented. Three different voltage levels are obtained in the output. Stress on semiconductor switches is half of the DC link voltage. Control technique SPWM and PD-SPWM for gate signal and comparison of output waveforms for control technique PD-SPWM and SPWM is discussed.
