Description

This data set represent the kinematic and RMS-EMG data produced during a study that investigated the effects of trunk stabilization on lower quarter neuromuscular control during a loaded barbell squat. Twenty-eight healthy male subjects (mean age 22.1±1.9 years) performed 3 squat-repetitions at 75% of predicted one-rep-max load using 4 trunk stabilization conditions: no bracing/belt (NoSS), abdominal bracing (AB), stabilization belt (StB), and AB+StB. Subjects first performed NoSS and the remaining conditions were randomized. Lower quarter surface electromyography and 3-D kinematic variables were obtained. A single-factor ANOVA assessed trunk kinematic data. A 2(phase)x4(strategy/side) ANOVA assessed all other variables.
