ISIEA: An image database of social inclusion and exclusion in Asian young adults

  • 1. School of Psychology, Shenzhen University

Description

Here we introduced a new open-access standardized set of image stimuli, the image database of social inclusion/exclusion in Asian young adults (ISIEA), which was developed and validated by our lab for academic research in the field of social affective processing especially social inclusion/exclusion investigation. The ISIEA database provided a set of image stimuli which contains three categories of social contexts (social exclusion, social neutral, social inclusion). We conducted a standardized assessment to this database by using normative 9-point scales, including the traditional emotional dimension of arousal and valence, the inclusion score which evaluates the level of perceived social inclusion, and the vicarious feeling scale which evaluates the level of affective feeling when the participants imagined themselves as the highlighted person in the image. Additionally, we offered the visual physical properties of each image. These parameters (Appendix) would be helpful for image selection and control of confounding factors. This database will be fully open after publication, but you can apply(by clicking on 'request access') for a temporary download address.
