Amara interstitialis Dejean 1828

Description

Amara interstitialis Dejean

BC: Wellington, 8.V.1949 (Richard Guppy) [UBC].

Holarctic in distribution, A. interstitialis is known in North America from AK, NT and YT (Bousquet and Larochelle 1993). It inhabits high boreal coniferous regions, and is usually found living in moderately dry, open country, on claymixed gravelly soil with grass and weeds (Lindroth 1986). It is also found among ‘weeds’ in farms and gardens in the vicinity of human dwellings (Lindroth 1992). This species breeds in the spring, and hibernates as an adult (Lindroth 1968). Its wings are fully developed (Lindroth 1992).
