94. Theognete draco Anderson, new species (Figure 293)
Diagnosis. Size. Length, female, 2.77mm. Width, female, 1.70mm. Body stout and rounded. Pronotum impunctate, scales very long, erect, narrow, recurved, somewhat curled or wispy. Elytra with scales long, erect, simple, recurved. Abdominal ventrite 5 virtually impunctate. Male not known.
Geographical distribution. México (Oaxaca).
Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest leaf litter at an elevation of 7000 feet.
Derivation of specific name. From the Latin draco for dragon; through her support of the Nature Discovery Fund at the Canadian Museum of Nature, this species is named after Brenda Dragon of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Canada, as a gift from Jane Dragon.
Material examined. 1♀ (CMNC). Holotype ♀ (CMNC): MÉXICO: Oaxaca. 32 mi. S. Valle Nacional, 7000’, 22.V.1971, S. Peck, Ber 205, leaf litter / HOLOTYPE ♀ Theognete draco sp. nov. R.S. Anderson. Genitalia extracted.
Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. weiri and T. globosa.
