Technology Aided Models

Description

Digital tracking and tracing tools for Covid-19 would enable the creation of databases that could then be used to prioritise the vaccination plan and ensure that the most vulnerable are inoculated first and that the entire population is covered in quick time. This paper seeks to lay out the principles for possible technology-aided models to do effective tracing and tracking, and potential data collection modes on testing and tracing that can support the national vaccination plan for Covid-19. The premise is that each of these steps is critical in first controlling and then arresting the spread of the COVID 19 virus.

How can technology aid in tracing and tracking without being intrusive in private lives through apps and digital tools? What have been the points of resistance that have obstructed Arogya Setu’s faster adoption in the country? What are the principles of a prudent common digital tracking system that can help us trace potential virus carriers in real-time and save us from infection transmission without compromising individual privacy, and safety? While addressing these issues, the paper also seeks to look into how data from tracing could be collated so as to strengthen Covid-19 documentation in general and specifically aid the vaccination plan.
