Description

Metandania Stephensen, 1925

Metandania Stephensen, 1925: 136.

Metandania: Schellenberg, 1953: 187.

Andaniotes: Barnard, 1969: 441 (new synonymy).

Metandania: Watling and Holman, 1981: 219.

Monotypi c genus.

Remarks

The present genus is very distinct from Andaniotes, with which Barnard (1969) synonymized it (for details, see Remarks under M. islandica). However, its phylogenetical relationships with the other genera in the Stegocephalidae will not be further discussed herein, as a cladistic analysis of the entire family will be published separately (Berge and Vader, in press).
