Description
F. 7. Principal component analysis using the mean of the number of epibionts on the hermit crab Pagurus prideaux: (a) the epibiont species appeared dispersed, although the points corresponding to species located commonly in the same areas were grouped (e.g. Pebrilla paguri and Vorticella sp.). Points of the most abundant species also appeared grouped (0.8, p<0.05) (1, Folliculina viridis; 2, Pebrilla paguri; 3, Chilodocona quennerstedti; 4, Ephelota gemmipara; 5, Paracineta limbata; 6, Actinocyathula homari; 7, Corynophrya anisostyla; 8, Acineta tuberosa; 9, Acineta papillifera; 10, Conchacineta constricta; 11, Cothurnia sp.; 12, Vorticella sp.; 13, Zoothamnium sp.). (b) The areas with high density of epibionts (chelipeds, carapace, second and third pereiopods) were grouped on the upper right side (0.8–0.9, p<0.05) (1, eyes; 2, antennulae; 3, antennae; 4, mandibulae; 5, maxillulae; 6, maxillae; 7, first maxillipeds; 8, second maxillipeds; 9, third maxillipeds; 10, right cheliped; 11, left cheliped; 12, second right pereiopod; 13, second left pereiopod; 14, third right pereiopod; 15, third left pereiopod; 16, fourth right pereiopod; 17, fourth left pereiopod; 18, fifth right pereiopod; 19, fifth left pereiopod; 20, carapace; 21, abdomen; 22, uropods; 23, telson; 24, gills).
