This arrangement was accepted in Attems's monograph (1929) which is still the only comprehensive, although outdated, world-wide taxonomic account of geophilomorphs. A better characterization of the subfamily was provided by Crabill (1964), together with a revised circumscription of the genus Arrup and a critical interpretation of some peculiar traits of these centipedes.
