Material examined. 1♂: China: Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Genhe City, Hanma National Nature Reserve, Daxingan Mountains, Monitoring Station, 30 July, 2014, leg. Zhi-Teng Chen.

Diagnosis and remarks. Mesocapnia variabilis males are macropterous (Fig. 3). The main epiproct sclerite has a distinct swollen bulb near midlength, narrowing distally and slightly wider before gradually tapering to a point (Figs. 1–2, 14). This species was previously reported from British Columbia, Yukon, Canada; Mongolia; northern Europe; and Russia (Stewart & Oswood 2006, DeWalt et al. 2016).
