Gamasellus silvestris Halaskova 1958

Description

170. Gamasellus silvestris Halašková, 1958

Gamasellus silvestris Halašková, 1958: 347.

Gamasellus (Eurysellus) silvestris.— Davydova, 1982: 36. Gamasellus alifanovi Davydova, 1970: 82. Synonymy by Davydova (1982).

Type depository. G. silvestris: Author's private collection; G. alifanovi: Siberian Zoological Museum, Novosibirsk, Russia.

Type locality and habitat. G. silvestris: Herlíkovice, Vrchlabí, Czech Republic, 27 February 1955, in soil of spruce forest; G. alifanovi: Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, [Siberia], Russia, 14 August 1965, in lichens. Note. Hirschmann (1962) considered that G. silvestris was a synonym of Cyrtolaelaps montanus Willmann, 1936, but Davydova (1982) reversed that decision. Bregetova & Shcherbak (1977) considered that G. silvestris and Gamasellus alifanovi Davydova, 1970 were both synonyms of C. montanus. Davydova (1982) later reinstated G. silvestris as a valid species, with G. alifanovi as its junior synonym.
