OTREC_3DVar_Raymond_Fuchs-Stone
Description
This gzipped tar file supplies the complete data and analysis trail for the production of the OTREC project 3DVar analyses. The avaps branch includes directories for each flight, with names indicating the flight date in format yyyymmdd. Under each of these directories are the original dropsonde soundings from NCAR EOL in NetCDF format, as well as the regularized z-grid versions used for the 3DVar analysis, in Candis (doi:10.5281/zenodo.5150519) format. The actual 3DVar analyses (Z*) are in the subdirectories box*, depending on which OTREC box was flown. Bad soundings are moved to their own subdirectory so that they are not used in the 3DVar analysis. The analyses are named "merge-1.cdf". In addition, the shell script avapsbox.sh is included, by which the 3DVar analysis is performed for each case. This calls other scripts in the "script" directory. These scripts and the Candis executables must be in the user's path. Finally, in each directory is a "mask" file which defines the areal coverage of the dropsondes in each case. The other main subdirectory is called "avhrrsst", containing the sea surface temperature files from AVHRR satellite data. These data are referred to by the 3DVar calculation as well. Original AVHRR files from NOAA are included, as well as a shell script "otrec.sh" that puts needed SST data into the file "otrec_sst.cdf".
