Vespertilio discolor Kuhl, 1817

Kuhl, H. (1817) Die Deutschen Fledermäuse. Hanau, p. 6, 43 [1–67].

Valid name: Vespertilio murinus Linnaeus, 1758

Syntype: ZMB 485, skin and skull; probably Wien; presumably collected by Natterer; purchased from Kuhl, September 1818.

Comment: Kuhl´s description was based on six specimens, presumably from the surroundings of Wien, Austria, and collected by Natterer. The whereabouts of the other syntype specimens is unknown.
