Material. — Croatia, Istria, Rovinj, „Cross Bay” (45°07.063'N, 13°36.994'E) and „Saline Bay” (45°07.122'N, 13°37.196' E). Phytal with Cystoseira and Halopteris. 0– 2m. 11.–13.12.04. Many subadult and adult females and males. Carola Lang, Roland Melzer, Roland Meyer leg.

— Croatia, Istria, Cape Savudrija (15°28'N, 13°23' E). Phytal on stones. 0–1m. 22.–27.05.05 Many females, males and approx. 70 ready-to-hatch juveniles in marsupia. Leonie Meltzer, Roland Melzer leg.

Carola Lang, Roland Melzer, Roland Meyer, Christian Pilz, Andrea Salmen, Stefan Friedrich, Jana Martin, Markus Unsöld leg. The collected material is deposited at the Bavarian State Collection of Zoology (ZSM), numbers A 20061391 –A 20061407.

General diagnosis. Swimming setae on A2 absent (Fig. 1, 2A). Most adult males from Savudrija are strongly covered with algae (Fig. 2A, C) that can easily be confused with hairs (Krapp-Schickel & Vader, 1998), which are especially dense on Pr2 and 3 as well as on Gn2 (Fig. 2A). Blunt dorsal tubercles with apikal, „raspberry”-like surface are often found on Pr2–7, at least on Pr2 (Fig. 2C; 2G, H) (Krapp-Schickel & Vader, 1998). Propodus of Gn 2 in males strongly curved and equipped with 2 swollen bulges as well as a prominent, pointed poison tooth (Fig. 2A) (Krapp-Schickel & Vader, 1998). Gills oval to elongate (Fig. 3I) (Krapp-Schickel & Vader, 1998).

Colour: Green, yellow or reddish, sometimes with black or brown spots (Krapp-Schickel & Vader, 1998). The material of Cape Savudrija is pink and white. Adult males with small black spots laterally on each side of Pr2 and a single larger spot on Pr3.
