Desoria tigrina Nicolet 1842

Description

D. tigrina Nicolet, 1842

Desoria tigrina Nicolet, 1842: 59

AK Skidmore 1995

NT Skidmore 1995

MB Skidmore 1995

ON Skidmore 1995

AB Parsons & Parkinson 1986, 1986a, cf.

QC Marshall 1964 as olivacea var. stachi, 1967 as tigrina olivacea; Skidmore 1995

Remarks: Skidmore’s report (1995) of the species were based on older Nearctic records of D. olivacea and Fjellberg’s remark (1979, p. 93) that “most recent workers have confused this species with Tullberg’s olivacea ”. The northernmost locality given by Christiansen & Bellinger (1980, 1998) lies within the southern part of New York State, USA. The identity of Nearctic and Palaearctic specimens treated as D. tigrina also needs confirmation taking into account the existence of several similar congeners (Fjellberg 2007; Babenko et al. 2017).

General distribution: considered cosmopolitan.
