The Necessity for Planning in the New Russia

The article demonstrates that it is essential to use planning mechanisms to reduce reproductive imbalances in the Russian economy. In the first instance this affects the social field and the tasks of integrating advanced technologies into production. Strategic planning must be oriented toward reconstructing the national economic model, putting an end to an excessive focus on raw materials production. The market mechanism is incapable of carrying out this task on its own. In addition, the article illustrates the historical experience of planning in various countries, experience that may be drawn upon in our own time.
