TYPE DEPOSITORY: of A. eremitus: Istituto Sperimentale per la Zoologia Agraria, Firenze, Italy; of A. austriacus: not stated.

TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: of A. eremitus: Tiarno, Trento, Italy, in moss; of A. austriacus: Geschriebenstein, Alps, southeast of Vienna, Austria, near the Hungarian border, in soil.

NOTES: (a) Farrier & Hennessey (1993: 24) considered Arctoseius brevichelis Karg to be a junior synonym of A. eremitus. We adopted the interpretation of Kalúz & Fenďa (2005: 93), considering them to be distinct species. (b) Hirschmann (1962: 48) considered G. (D.) eremita to be a senior synonym of Arctoseius bicuspidatus Willmann, but this interpretation is not adopted in this publication.
