TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi … in apennino [Parmese territory … Apennines (Italy)]”.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species (Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 136, Pape et al. 1995: 17, Cerretti 2010: 106, O’Hara & Cerretti 2016: 120; O’Hara et al. 2020: 385).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 180) described both sexes of Chetogena acuminata without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but presumably from more than one specimen because he indicated: “ non rara [not rare]”. We found eight syntypes in this study.
