ТИПИ РЕФЕРЕНЦІЇ В ТЕКСТАХ ДИСКУРСУ ЖАХІВ

The article contains a brief review of the topical problems of a modern linguistic trend – the analysis of reference in artistic discourse. The aim of the article is to define and prove the existence of the referential types in the texts of horror discourse, taking as the example texts written in Ukrainian and English. The analysis is made accounting for the influence of the theory of possible worlds on the pragmatic approach to the text studies; also the results of psychological studies are used during the analysis of the phenomenon of reference. Six types of reference, singled out in the research, are illustrated with the quotations in English and Ukrainian in order to prove the universal character of the psychological basis of reference in the horror discourse. All this allowed making a conclusion that reference in the artistic discourse, as well as in the real world, is based on the pre-formed emotional and intellectual experience of the addresser and the addressee and is created in accord with the cognitive patterns of the real world. The possible development of studies of the analyzed phenomenon may lie in the field of a detailed description of the correspondence of reference to the genre features of the texts of horror discourse (e.g. ghost stories, gothic novels, thriller, etc.), to the author’s psycho type, verbalization of subjects-the sources of horror and other.
