  • 1. Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
  • 2. University of Michigan School of Nursing
  • 3. Hornet

Description

This data were collected via a survey distributed between April 16 and August 3, 2020 via Hornet and Her — social networking apps marketed to sexual minorities, both cisgender and transgender, with more than 4 million monthly active users across 196 countries in six continents. Individuals were invited to voluntarily participate in the survey via their app-specific inboxes. To begin, individuals had to report being 18 years or older, view a consent form, and indicate their informed consent by clicking a button to begin. The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health Institutional Review Board reviewed the survey study, approving it with a Category 4 exemption. These data are restricted to transgender and nonbinary individuals who completed ≥ 90% of the survey, answered questions in no fewer than seven minutes (the minimum piloted time for completing the survey), and did not provide conflicting responses for multiple responses.
