Description

This repository holds the current collection of files associated with the Indus Village model, including separate modules implementations, demonstrations, tests, and pseudo-code diagrams. All files are released under GNU General Public License v3.0.

The Indus Village model is an agent-based model aiming to represent one or more rural settlements of the Indus Civilisation. The population is structured in households that engage in crop-based agriculture for food production and other complementary activities, having available several possible cropping configurations for adapting to local environmental conditions and coping with climate-driven changes. The model contains multiple submodels that are being designed and implemented separately and are made available to facilitate re-use. The model is under development, but several submodels have been designed and implemented in NetLogo (v6.0.4).

For details on the model general structure and submodels, consult the repository wiki at: https://github.com/Two-Rains/indus-village-model/wiki

The content of this repository was made possible thanks to funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement no 648609) for the TwoRains project (https://www.arch.cam.ac.uk/research/projects/two-rains). TwoRains is a collaboration between researchers at the University of Cambridge and Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi that was begun as the Land, Water and Settlement project (https://www.arch.cam.ac.uk/research/projects/land-water-settlement/). We would also like to acknowledge funding from the DST-UKIERI programme and the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research.
