Remarks. This species inhabits the intertidal region down to 50 m, on coral reefs and under rocks; found living associated with bryozoans, polychaetes and sponges (Veloso & Melo 1993; Melo 1999; Micheletti-Flores & Negreiros-Fransozo 1999). Most of the specimens in São Paulo were collected with colonies of bryozoan S. errata. One specimen (CCDB 1138) was found associated to a crinoid (Echinodermata). Sequences accession numbers (GenBank): CCDB 2854—16S (HM352468), CCDB 5297—COI (MF490052) (Mantelatto et al. 2011, 2018).
