SADiLaR: Bringing digital skills and resources to Humanities and Social Sciences
Description
This presentation was prepared for Open/Social/Digital Humanities Pedagogy Training and Mentorship, a Virtual Conference of the ADHO Special Interest Group for Digital Humanities Pedagogy and Training and the INKE Open Social Scholarship Cluster, taking place aligned with the Digital Humanities Summer Institute 2021. #OSDHumanitiesPTM #dhsi21
In the presentation we share a short overview of the history of Digital Humanities in South Africa. We introduce the South African Centre for Digital Language Resources (SADiLaR) along with its two programmes focused on:
- Digitisation and
- Growing a Digital Humanities community of practice through the ESCALATOR programme.
We provide more information about the ESCALATOR programme that kicked off in December 2020 and specifically focus on the mentorship programme referred to as the Digital Champions Initiative.
Recordings of the talk will be available from 1 June 2021 for all registered participants of the DHSI Open/Social/Digital Humanities Pedagogy Training and Mentorship online event to enjoy at their convenience. The synchronous part of the event will take place on Thursday 17 June from 8:30-11:30 am Pacific Daylight Time (Vancouver). On 17 June the presenters will be available as part of the synchronous event via a shared Zoom channel plus on Twitter using the #OSDHumanitiesPTM #dhsi21 hashtags, which will be monitored by the session hosts and presenters.
