Description

This dataset provides a daily CO2 emission dataset for China’s 31 provinces, including Tibet for the first time. The inventory covers three industrial sectors (power, industry and ground transport) from 2019 to 2020 with temporal resolution to daily level. Seasonal, weekly and holiday variations of CO2 emissions have been uncovered at provincial level for the first time. The week and holidays information as attribution to add in this dataset for further analysis the impact of weekends and holidays on China’s CO2 emissions. Carbon emissions reduce around 3% over the weekends. Spring Festival has the greatest impact on the reduction of China’s CO2 emissions. This fine-grain and timeliness of inventory will facilitate more local and adaptive management of CO2 emissions during both the pandemic recovery and the ongoing energy transition.
