Type species: Ditomotarsus geniculatus Signoret, 1863 by original designation.

Diagnostic characters. General coloration dark brown to blackish. Mandibular plates strongly concave laterally, not contiguous, not or scarcely surpassing in front the anteclypeus. Antennomeres not strongly thickened. Distal end of first antennal segment reaching little if any beyond the apex of head, cylindrical; segment II narrower than diameter of a tibia. Scutellum and pronotum without calloused bands. Ostiolar peritreme elongate (Figs. 3 and 9), reaching at least half way from ostiolar pore to lateral margin of metapleuron. Membrane not thus extended along costa. Costal margin and narrow border each side of clavo-corial suture calloused yellow or cream. Base of abdominal venter smoothly convex, without a tubercle or spine. Pendergrast’s organ (Fig. 5 and 10) oval shaped, oblique, occupying the sublateral margin of the VI and VII ventricles, one third of it in the first and two thirds in the second. Male genitalia (Fig. 12) with pygophore rough punctured and dorsal margin almost straight, parameres not curved but with both margins sinuose, apically rounded.
