Dataset: Free-field impulse responses of several rigid spherical microphone arrays

Description

This dataset contains free-field impulse responses of several rigid spherical microphone arrays (SMAs), measured in the anechoic chamber at the Applied Acoustics division of Chalmers University of Technology. The SMAs were measured sequentially using the VariSphear measurement system and a wooden, rigid sphere with 8.5 cm radius as scattering body. The array microphone was a DPA 4060 pressure microphone and the measurement loudspeaker a Genelec 8030A. The distance between the SMA and the loudspeaker was 2.15 m.

The following SMA designs are included:

  • Lebedev grids with 26, 50, 110, 230 points
  • Fliege-Maier grids with 16, 36, 81 points

Contents of the corresponding mat files:

  • smaIrs: impulse responses of the measured SMA
  • fs: sampling frequency (48 kHz)
  • radius: SMA radius (8.5 cm)
  • micDirsAziEleRad: azimuth and elevation angles of the microphone locations in radians
  • quadratureWeights: quadrature weights of the employed grid
  • dpa4060Ir: impulse response between the Genelec 8030A and the DPA 4060 microphone, measured without the scattering body
  • bk4190Ir: impulse response between the Genelec 8030A and a Brüel & Kjaer 4190 microphone as a reference

 

Although the measurements were done in an anechoic chamber, reflections off the measurement setup could not entirely be avoided.
