Thessaly March 2021 coseismic InSAR S1 displacement maps
- 1. Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia
Description
We study the surface deformation following a moderate size M5+ earthquake sequence which occurred close to the Tyrnavos village (Thessaly, Greece) in March 2021. We use the Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technique exploiting several pairs of Sentinel-1 acquisitions to successfully retrieve the ground movement caused by the three major events (M5+) of the sequence. Thanks to the 6 days repeat time of the Sentinel-1 mission, InSAR analysis allowed us to detect both the surface displacement due to each of the analyzed earthquakes as well as the cumulated one occurred during the seismic sequence.
