SMD-synth: A synthesized variant of the SMD MIDI-Audio Piano Music subset

Description

SMD-synth is a synthesized dataset based on the Saarland Music Data (SMD) MIDI-Audio Piano Music subset.

SMD constitutes 50 pieces of classical piano music with an overall playtime of approx. 261 minutes. The dataset was created using a Disklavier, and thus contains MIDI files and audio in the form of WAV files.

The specialties of SMD-synth are the synthesized WAV files, where for every note-off MIDI event, the piano note is immediately cut off, thus strictly mirroring both the MIDI events and spectral magnitude information. Also, the MIDI information has been altered in such a way that obvious MIDI processor errors have been removed, sustain pedal info was removed, and the beginnings and ends of the musical pieces were trimmed further.
