Description

Dactylanthus antarcticus (Clubb, 1908)

Material examined: BBB 2016: St. 9; St. 26; St. 28; St. 36 (MLP-Oi 4206).

Distribution: Previously recorded in Antarctica by Carlgren (1911) (64º20S’, 56º38’W), Clubb (1908) in Mc- Murdo Bay (77ºS, 170ºE, 36 m), Stephenson (1918) (77º13’S, 164º18’E, 378 m) and Dunn (1983) (67º24’25’S, 179º54’W, 124–161 m; 64º47.4’S, 64º07.4`–07’W, 106–110 m; 64º47.5’–47.45’S, 64º07.2’–05.6’W, 73–100 m; 78º10’S, 162º22’W, 610 m). This is the first record in the MPA Namuncurá I.

Remarks: Cystiactis antarctica was the original name (synonym).
