Description

Tulpa tulipifera (Allman, 1888)

Material examined: BBB 2016: St. 16; St. 18; St. 23; St. 28; St. 36; St. 40 (MACN-In: 43468, 43469, 43470, 43471, 43472).

Distribution: This species was reported in Heard Island, 52°04’S, 71°22E, Burdwood bank and Malvinas /Faklands Islands as Campanularia tulipifera (Jäderholm, 1905); it is distributed from 41°S to 56°S (Oliveira et al. 2016).

Remarks: Very abundant colonies were found, some of them with gonothecae and growing on soft-corals.
