The G20: A Military, Educational, and Healthcare Perspective

Creators

Description

Welcome!  This is a visualization project applying Google API's programming tools to present annual and intra-year trends among a select number of countries in the G20 forum with respect to their military, educational, and healthcare spending, from 2013 to 2017.  Our presentation will cover Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US).  The data was originally cleaned up on Jupyter Notebook and exported to Excel, and subsequently converted to Google Sheets.  Several more changes to its column and sheet structure were also implemented following both of its exportations.  Our GDP, population, military, and healthcare figures can found at the World Bank's Indicator files.  With regard to education, these figures were picked up at several other sources.  China's data was cited from Statista and reported as shares of GDP over time.  In contrast, the US reported its data in terms of current expenditures on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis' Economic Data page.  As for the other countries, their figures were presented as shares of GDP on Knoema.

The Jupyter Notebook in PDF format, as well as the data applied for this project, are available for you to view.  References for this project are included under its corresponding HTML page.
