Myrina simpsoni Marshall, 1900: 333.

MATÉRIEL EXAMINÉ. — Grande-Bretagne, parages des Shetlands, sur os de baleine, 8 spm. (MNHN). Mer du Nord. Grand Banc Fischer, 2 spm. (MNHN). Portugal. Ouest de Póvoa de Varzim, 41°28,7’N, 09°12,7’W, sur crâne de baleine coulée, 300 m, 3 spm. (MNHN). Italie. Livorno, Île de Capraia, sur bois coulés, 130-150 m, 1 spm. (coll. JP).

REMARQUES

Grande espèce (jusqu’à 45 mm de long d’après Warén & Carrozza [1990]) présente jusqu’à 430 m de profondeur (Bolotin et al. 2005) dans l’Atlantique Nord-Est (Hansson 1998) ainsi qu’en Méditerranée occidentale (Sabelli et al. 1992) et centrale (Bolotin et al. 2005), généralement fixée à des os de cétacés (baleines, globicéphales [Quéro 1973] ou dauphins) mais parfois aussi trouvée associée à du bois coulé (J. T. Marshall 1901; Tebble 1966) ou à du spermaceti flottant.
