Application of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) remote sensing in flood disaster management (Module 1)
Description
The climate change projections by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) envisage an increase in extreme precipitation events with riverine and flash floods throughout the globe. The maps depicting the flood-affected area produced in near real-time can help the decision-makers for effective disaster response management and damage assessment. Therefore, different modules are developed for flood disaster management using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) remote sensing which helps the research and scientific communities. Module 1 describes the theoretical background for SAR based flood mapping as well as various methods and techniques for rapid flood mapping.
