(Fig. 3)
Mutilla spectra Bingham, 1908: 350, ♀, type locality, Oncha near Naini Tal, United Provinces [India: Uttarakhand], holotype in NZC.
Odontomutilla spectra: Lelej 2005: 117, ♀.
Odontomutilla speciosa: Das & Girish Kumar 2015: 113, ♀ (Maharashtra); Das et al. 2017: 376, ♀.
Diagnosis. FEMALE. Head ferruginous. T1 with spot of pale setae medially. T 2 in basal half with three separate spots of pale setae, located transversely. MALE. Unknown.
Material examined. Holotype of Mutilla spectra Bingham, ♀, India, Oncha Gaon, Naini Tal District, United Provinces [currently Uttarakhand State], 1–6. IV.[19]07, Mus. Collr. [Indian Museum Collector] // Mutilla spectra ♀. Bingh, Type // 6064 15 // Type [ZSC]. Additional material. India: Maharashtra, 1 ♀, Kandala, 19.IV.1983, A.R. Lahiri & party leg., N15032 /H3 // Odontomutilla speciosa (Smith) Das & Girish Kumar det. [NZC]; Karnataka, 1 ♀, 15 km N Bangalore, 23–24.VII.[19]96, KT, K. Werner & L. Lorenz leg. [MZUF].
Distribution. India: Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka (Fig. 36).
Remark. Das and Girish Kumar (2015) recorded this species from India (Maharashtra, Karnataka) as Odontomutilla speciosa (Smith, 1855) which was described from Hong Kong (China). Mickel (1933) studied the holotype of Odontomutilla speciosa and provided the differences with the related O. chrysococcina (Sichel et Radoszkowski, 1869) from Iran. After the re-examination of Indian material we consider that the records from Das & Girish Kumar (2015) was a misidentified O. spectra (Bingham, 1908) described from India (Uttarakhand). Therefore we excluded O. speciosa (Smith, 1855) from the list of Indian subcontinent fauna.
