Description
Genus. Stelodoryx Topsent, 1904
Definition: (amended from Van Soest, 2002, p. 619): Myxillidae with reticulate or plumoreticulate skeleton and a full complement of megascleres; microscleres include polydentate anchorate isochelae.
Remarks: We amended the definition of Stelodoryx to allow for plumoreticulate skeletons within the genus to accommodate Stelodoryx jamesorri n. sp. The alternative of amending the genus would have been to erect a new genus for this species. We refrained from this option because the type material did not reveal enough DNA to strengthen this view by genetic data.
