Lichenomphalia umbellifera

  • 1. Department of Botany, Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London, UK

Description

Agaricus umbelliferus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1175. 1753.

"Habitat inter Folia congesta, semiputrida." RCN: 8411.

Lectotype (Jørgensen & Ryman in Taxon 38: 307, f. 1. 1989): [icon] Drawing annotated by C.J. Hartman in Rudbeck, Iter Lapponicum (University Library, Uppsala). - Epitype (Jørgensen & Ryman in Taxon 43: 254. 1994): Fungi Exs. Suec. 1753 (UPS).

Current name: Lichenomphalia umbellifera (L.: Fr.) Redhead & al. (Tricholomataceae).

Note: Redhead & Kuyper (in Laursen & al., Arctic Alpine Mycol. 2: 326. 1987) selected the cited Micheli plate as lectotype but this choice was rejected by Jørgensen & Ryman (1989) in favour of a Rudbeck drawing because the Micheli element was excluded by Fries, the sanctioning author. Redhead & Kuyper (in Taxon 42: 447. 1993) argued that Jørgensen & Ryman’s choice was ineligible but Jørgensen & Ryman (l.c. 43: 253-255. 1994) refuted this argument and designated an epitype in support of their own type choice (the Rudbeck figure).
