Description
Saxifraga groenlandica Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 404. 1753.
"Habitat in Groenlandia, forte etiam in Pyrenaeis & Helveticis Alpibus." RCN: 3173.
Lectotype (Webb in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 95: 264. 1987): [icon] " Saxifraga tridact. Groenl. caulic. valde foliosis" in Dillenius, Hort. Eltham. 2: 337, t. 253, f. 329. 1732.
Current name: Saxifraga cespitosa L. (Saxifragaceae).
Note: Sometimes informally rejected as a nomen ambiguum by earlier authors (see Webb in Proc. Roy. Irish Acad. 53B: 222. 1950), Webb’s typification allows S. groenlandica to fall into the synonymy of S. cespitosa L.
