Description

Buglossidium luteum (Risso 1810) —Solenette

Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Solea lutea Risso 1810 by George et al. (1964: 24); subsequently recorded as Buglossidium luteum (Risso) by Mouneimné (1977: 66); as Buglossidium luteum (Risso 1810) by Mouneimné (2002: 239).

Distribution. Western Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic: Iceland, Scotland and southern Norway south to Morocco.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (LC: 4 February 2009); Med. (LC: 28 February 2008). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Low priority for conservation action.
