The IceCube-Gen2 Neutrino Observatory: A Window to the High Energy Universe
Creators
Description
Neutrinos arrive undeflected and unattenuated from cosmic distances, making them unique windows to the high-energy universe. In 2013, IceCube opened the field of high-energy neutrino astronomy by observing a diffuse flux of neutrinos, and in 2017 demonstrated the value of neutrinos in multi-messenger astronomy by identifying a neutrino in coincidence with a flaring blazar. Here we describe the capabilities of the baseline design of the IceCube-Gen2 Neutrino Observatory, a planned large-scale facility that augments the IceCube scientific mission for the next generation of the rapidly emerging field of high-energy neutrino astrophysics.
