Les Archiducs, la guerre et la religion : facteurs d'influence sur la décision politique dans les Pays-Bas espagnols (ca. 1620-ca. 1635)

  • 1. FNRS

Description

This article aims to provide information on how the legislation enacted in the Habsburg Low Countries during the early years of the Thirty Years War (1620-1635) was linked to religious matters. This period represents a key moment for these territories in terms of political, religious and military situation. The end of the Twelve Years Truce (1609-1621) meant that the conflict between the Catholic territories (Habsburg Low Countries) and the United Provinces (prominently calvinist) started anew. In the context of a transregional European war we can assume that the legislation promulgated was highly impacted.
