Description

The Upper Albian ammonite faunas of the Kiamichi, Duck Creek and Fort Worth Formations of north-east Texas are revised. A total of 49 species are described, including the following new taxa of Mortoniceratinae: Mortoniceratoides elegans sp. nov. from the Kiamichi Formation, Elobiceras (Craginites) sparcicostatum sp. nov., Elobiceras (Craginites) simplex sp. nov, Paracraginites conlini gen. et sp. nov., Pervinquieria (Pervinquieria) asper sp. nov., Pervinquieria (Deiradoceras) serpentiforme sp. nov., Angolaites elegans sp. nov., and Lasswitzia gen. nov., with type species Lasswitzia minima (Lasswitz, 1904), all from the Duck Creek Formation. An ontogenetic series of Ammonites vespertinus Morton, 1834, the type species of Mortoniceras Meek, 1876, shows it to be generically distinct from Pervinquieria Böhm, 1910. The zonal scheme recognized in north-east Texas is correlated with that developed in Western Europe.
