Description
Muhammad b. Ahmad at-Tarsusi is an Ottoman scholar who lived in Tarsus between the second half of the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century when Ottoman Empire started its regression period. Tarsusi wrote more than thirty works in the field of tafsir, fiqh, hadith, kalam, philosophy, logic, astronomy. One of his important works is his work called Ḫulâṣat al-Miftâḥ. Tarsusi, created this work by summarizing (talkhis) the third part of Abu Yaʿqub Yusuf al-Sakkaki's Miftâḥ al-ʿulûm. In this study, brief information about the life of Tarsusi was given and the investigation of his work named Ḫulâṣat al-Miftâḥ, written in the field of rhetoric in the seventeenth century, was made. In this way, knowledge was provided about al-Tarsusi’s and the period’s eloquence understanding. On the other side, when we consider that there are almost five hundred thousand written works awaiting verification in our country, it is very important in this field to bring this work into the science world by verifying it. The study consists of two parts which are "verification (tahqiq)" and “studying (dirasa)”. In the studying (dirasa) part of the study, al-Tarsusi’s life is discussed and information about her work is given. In the verification (tahqiq) part, the verified text of the manuscript called Ḫulâṣat al-Miftâḥ is included.
