Description
MassBank Europe was established in 2011 and created an active community of contributors of mass spectral records and software developers based in life science and environmental chemistry. Besides the acquisition of new records, a main community focus of the last years was the renewal of the server software and the interoperability and integration with chemical and mass spectral databases (e.g. PubChem, MoNA, GNPS, Wikidata). The goal is to make MassBank fully compliant to the FAIR rules. Another challenge of community mass spectral databases is the availabily of relevant data in the library. In this case, smart suspect lists of chemicals of interest can help to share processing efforts and costs of data acquisition.
