Item 7: OS Inspirational Training Catalogue
Authors/Creators
Description
At the start of the project, the aim was to produce a toolbox for Open Science and Digital Literacy skills development. Empirical knowledge from the project participants as well as literature review showed that ‘getting started and keeping up with skills development at your own pace’ can be difficult since there are so many different courses and providers to choose from. Through discussions with the steering committee it became obvious that The Library Management are very aware of the need to support Open Science skills development, but to do this they need more than just a tool box, rather strategic service-needs identification, training tools and inspiration - hence the development of the inspirational training catalogue.
This inspirational training catalogue is created as a continuation of the review and competencies matrix in which we have lined-up the skills on 3 levels - see Item 6.
Foundational to the catalogue are the FOSTER toolkit, Open Science MOOC, Open Science Training Handbook, LIBER and other learning platforms that provide inspiration for basic introduction to OS training, places to start and skill progression. The resulting catalogue is collected with all library staff in mind. The aim of the catalogue is to provide an evidence-based starting-point for the development and maintenance of skills at the libraries offering research (and student) support in Open Science, RDM, FAIR and Research Data Lifecycle. Many project participants have contributed to the catalogue, a catalogue that can never be fully complete.
