Description
SCOPE_STEMMUS integrates photosynthesis and transfer of energy, mass and momentum in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum system, via a simplified 1D root growth model and a resistance scheme (from soil, through root zones and plants, to atmosphere). STEMMUS_SCOPE can be used to investigate vegetation states under water stress conditions, and to simultaneously understand the dynamics of soil heat and mass transfer, as well as the root growth. In the coupled model, STEMMUS could provide root zone moisture profile to SCOPE, which was used to calculate water stress factor. On the other hand, SCOPE can provide soil surface temperature to STEMMUS, which was used subsequently as the top boundary condition.
